Amazon Announces Kindle Matchbook

Buy cheap digital editions of print books you already own.

Amazon Announces Kindle Matchbook

We’ve been wanting this to happen for some time now. Amazon has announced Kindle Matchbook. “For thousands of qualifying books, your past, present, and future print-edition purchases will soon allow you to buy the Kindle edition for $2.99, $1.99, $0.99, or free.”

The only issue I have with this is something tells me that the “thousands of qualifying books”, may not be the kind of stuff I normally buy. Even if that’s the case, this is still a good thing. I’m sure more titles will be added eventually.

I don’t know about you, but I love having actual copies of books, yet I also like to read on my kindle. One of my problems is that some books can be big, heavy, and simply awkward to hold when trying to read them (I’m looking at you, The Legend of Drizzt collectors editions). That has lead me to wishing I could get a cheap (or free) Kindle version of some of my books, for convenience, especially considering I already spent a lot of money on the actual print copy.

Kindle Matchbook will be launching this October.
