Watching: DC Animated Shows

Watching: DC Animated Shows

I’ve been on a kick lately, a nostalgia superhero kick. I grew up watching superhero cartoons, and never really stopped. It really hit me though that most of the animated shows I watched were DC. Of course I loved some Marvel stuff to, like X-Men, X-Men Evolution, and various Spiderman cartoons. But it’s the DC animated stuff that has always dominated, even to this day.

It all started when I decided to give Static Shock a rewatch, I had only seen it when it originally aired, and remember really liking it. After that, I was on a nostalgia kick, and thankful I have an HBO Max subscription, because that is where a lot of the shows are at.

The next thing I watched was Batman Beyond, another show I haven’t seen since it aired. Followed by Teen Titans, which I, originally, did not finish watching. So, it was nice to finally see how it ended. But, they really should not have cancelled that show.

Then I decided to check out a show I had never seen before, Batman the Brave and the Bold. I wasn’t sure if I was going to like it, but it turns out, I really did. Aquaman, basically being a big goof, was kind of fun.

Then I shifted to Justice League, which I have watched a few times. That, of course, was followed by Justice League Unlimited.

After finishing those up I had to watch Young Justice. I had only seen the first season, shortly after it aired. I was quite surprised to find that it now had four seasons, and the fourth had recently ended. It is such a good series. I really hope we see a season 5, and in a reasonable amount of time.

After that I felt compelled to watch another show I hadn’t seen yet, The Batman (2004). Not my favorite, but I did enjoy it.

From there I went back to the 90s for Batman The Animated Series, and Superman The Animated

Next thing I knew I had watched almost ALL the DC animated shows and movies that HBO Max has to offer. I’m currently watch Harley Quinn. But, when that is done, I’ll have run out of things to watch. I guess I could track down The Zeta Project.

Bottom line: I feel like DC rules in the animation department.
