Throwback: Hello Kitty Cafe Truck

Throwback: Hello Kitty Cafe Truck

Back on Saturday, October 14, 2017 a Hello Kitty Cafe Truck came to Indianapolis, IN, and a couple of us Awkward Geeks decided we HAD to go.

Unfortunately our real world job had us working last minute, unnecessary, mandatory overtime (we both worked at the same place), and we were not happy about it. That meant precious time being lost, as the truck was possibly selling out of stuff we wanted. Eventually we were finally able to leave, and head over to the Fashion Mall, where the cafe truck was waiting.

We stood in a long line for a couple of hours, it was actually a nice warm day, though a bit sunny for our liking. As we stood around waiting, an employee from David’s Tea (inside the mall) came by with coupons for a free drink, which was a smart promotion. When we finally got to the truck we were lucky enough to find that the stuff we wanted was still there.

This shot was taken after we had already been in line for over an hour.

Not gonna lie, we probably spent a ridiculous amount of money, but it was worth it. I had initially only planned on buying snacks, but then decided I HAD to have a mug (I collect mugs). Of course I ended up buying ALL the snacks, and even a bottle of water because it was Hello Kitty’s Bow.

After the truck we decided to walk around the area, since it’s a place we have never been to before. First we hit up the mall, and got our free drinks at David’s Tea, and since we both love tea, we also bought some to take home, along with a couple of snacks. There wasn’t much else of interest to us there, it’s called “The Fashion Mall” for a reason, which we are not into. So we headed over to a nearby Barnes and Noble to look around before heading home.

It was a nice day, even if we were exhausted from being at work all day. I always thought it would be great to do something like that again. Imagine if every year a new cafe truck traveled the county? We could get a Pokemon one, and Sailor Moon, and anything else we could think of. Sadly, nothing like that happened again, but we can always hope.

I forgot to take a picture of the mug on the day I bought it, but I took this shot the next morning as I was enjoying my new tea and trying one of the Hello Kitty cookies…
