Small Space: Working From Home

Small Space: Working From Home

Even though more people are now going back to work, some people still get to work from home, and with that in mind I was thinking about how I would decorate a small space to use for a work space.

Not everyone has a lot of space to work with, and not everyone has a PC, which means they mught not have a computer desk (I haven’t touched a PC in YEARS, I just work from a laptop now), and maybe we don’t want to work from our kitchen table. But hopefully we should be able to find a nice corner to convert into a workspace.

My first idea was a laptop desk, with a bit of storage space. It is pretty convenient when you don’t have a lot of space to work with at home (and are working with a laptop, obviously). The space under it can be used for work stuff; note pads, pencil/pen holder (I have a floppy disk pencil holder!), and whatever else you may need.

Your quiet workspace corner can also double as a book nook, at least that’s what I want to do with mine. So you could be set up with a nice little accent chair, with a space saving bookcase near it. I’d probably have a storage ottoman nearby, for when I want to put my feet up, and read.

Now, all we need are some decorations to add your personal, geeky, touch. For me, I would add my two Yatzee games, because one is the Serenity (Firefly), and the other is the TARDIS (Doctor Who), and maybe a couple of my favorite Funkos, like Buffy, Sylvanas (Warcraft), and Charlie from Supernatural. And of course there would be some of my favorite books. Lets not forget something for the wall behind your workspace. Maybe a movie poster? Or a map of a fictional world? (I have a map of The Known World) That way, if you’re on zoom, your coworkers will know how awesome you are.
