Holiday Movies 2021

Everyone loves the classics, but sometimes I like to look at the new stuff to see what I can make fun of, or find out that I accidentally enjoyed it. I actually haven’t watched any of these, just the trailers, to see if there is anything I actually want to check out.

8-Bit Christmas:

This was the first thing to grab my attention this year, simply because of the title, plus I noticed NPH was in it. The description I found on IMDb simply says; “In 1980s Chicago, a 10-year-old sets out on a quest to get the Christmas gift of his generation: the latest and greatest video-game system.”. I admit, that isn’t exactly selling me on this, even though the title and NPH drew me in. So I watched the trailer, that didn’t really sell me on it either. But, I still might watch it. I mean, it is about the 80s, and video games.

Home Sweet Home Alone

Apparently they’re still making Home Alone movies, in particular a “reimagining”. But, I’d think people would just go back and watch the original, and not something new. Not exactly drawn to this one, but since it’s “Home Alone” related figured I could at least watch the trailer. I feel like this is something younger kids might enjoy, but us older “kids” will stick to the original.

Father Christmas is Back

While it’s not really my thing, based on the trailer, this actually looks like something that could be fun to watch with friends, as you have a few drinks. IMDb description: Father Christmas is Back centers around four sisters who have re-united for the Christmas Holiday in a Yorkshire mansion. misunderstandings that uncover the long-buried secret that tore their family apart, so many years ago.

Single All The Way

It wouldn’t be Christmas without a romance movie. Right? It’s pretty cliché, but if you enjoy romance and the holidays, this might be for you. IMDb description: “Desperate to avoid his family’s judgment about his perpetual single status, Peter convinces his best friend Nick to join him for the holidays and pretend that they’re now in a relationship.”

A Boy Called Christmas

It looks like Netflix pulled though with something I think I actually want to watch. Here’s the IMDb description: “In this origin story of Father Christmas, an ordinary boy (with a loyal pet mouse and a reindeer at his side) sets out on an extraordinary adventure to find his father who is on a quest to discover the fabled village of Elfhelm.”
